Search Federal Inmate Releases

To find someone released from Federal Bureau of Prisons, start with the county custody record and then follow the person into the system that received them. A departure may be a community release, a transfer, or movement under another authority. Gem County does not publish a live roster or recent-release feed, so a missing name cannot settle the question. Jail staff, the county release record, Idaho VINE, the court docket, and the Idaho corrections search each answer a different part of the release inquiry.

Federal Bureau of Prisons Release Paths

Federal Bureau of Prisons, also called the federal prison system in county materials, is the local adult detention channel. A person may leave after posting bond, receiving release on recognizance, completing a short sentence, receiving credit for time served, or after a dismissal. Each event has a distinct meaning. Bond and recognizance end physical custody while the case can continue. A dismissal concerns the case or charge identified by the court. Time served ends the custodial part addressed by the judgment, though another case, supervision term, or hold may remain.

Other departures are transfers. A felony commitment can move a person into Idaho Department of Correction jurisdiction. An outside warrant may send the person to another county, while a federal matter or immigration detainer may place the person with a federal agency. The jail release or transfer entry should identify the event and, where public, the destination. The Gem County released-inmate search path keeps those systems separate so a transfer is not reported as a return to the community.

Key distinction: Leaving the Federal Bureau of Prisons building does not always mean release from custody. Ask whether the event was release or transfer.

Confirm Federal Bureau of Prisons Release

No official Gem County current-roster or recent-release interface was found as of July 16, 2026. The official jail service page supplies facility information but no searchable release feed. Confirmation therefore requires a short chain that starts closest to the physical event.

  1. Call the jail with the full legal name, date of birth if known, and an approximate booking date. Ask if the person remains there.
  2. If not, ask whether the jail entry says community release or transfer, along with the date, time, disposition, and receiving agency.
  3. Search Idaho VINE for a custody event, but verify it with the jail record.
  4. Review Idaho iCourt for a bond order, dismissal, judgment, or sentence entry.
  5. Use the IDOC Resident/Client Search when a felony commitment or community supervision is possible.

A court order explains legal authority but may precede processing, transportation, or another hold. VINE is a notice system rather than the signed judgment or release sheet. Two-source confirmation is strongest: pair the jail timestamp and disposition with the matching court or destination-system entry.

Federal Bureau of Prisons Records Contact

The Sheriff's Office operates the jail at the same First Street address used for county detention services. The jail line is the best real-time fallback. Documentary requests go to Sheriff's Records. Use both “Federal Bureau of Prisons” and “federal prison system” in a request, especially for older records.

The county information-access forms provide a request route, though the correct custodian should be confirmed before filing. Describe an existing booking sheet, jail-register entry, release record, or daily release report. Include the name, approximate booking date, date range, booking number if known, and preferred electronic format. Ask for an estimate before chargeable work begins.

Gem County Detention Role

The Gem County Sheriff's Office runs this adult county jail for local arrests, court holds, people awaiting adjudication, short county sentences, and people awaiting transfer. It is not an IDOC prison. An IDOC client can still be physically located at the county jail, and IDOC may display that fact while its top-line classification says “In community.” Read physical location and sentence status with the jail's current confirmation.

The arresting agency and custodial agency also differ. Emmett Police may make the arrest, while Gem County creates the booking and custody record. Court clerks maintain the docket and signed orders. A complete account may therefore require the police report, jail booking/release sheet, and court disposition rather than one all-purpose record.

Gem County Release Record Fields

The county does not publish a jail-system data dictionary, so request needed fields without promising each will be public. A focused request gives the custodian a clear existing-record target and reduces the chance of receiving only a current-custody answer.

Field to requestWhat it helps establish
Booking number and booking timeConnects the release to the correct jail stay.
Release date and timeRecords when physical custody ended or changed.
Release code or dispositionSeparates bond, recognizance, time served, dismissal, and transfer.
Destination or receiving agencyShows whether custody continued elsewhere.
Case number and bond entryLinks the jail event to the court docket.

Medical details, juvenile material, victim or witness identifiers, active-investigation content, security information, and other protected matter may be withheld or redacted. Ask for the statutory basis for any withholding and for reasonably separable public portions.

Gem County Public Records Timing

The Idaho Public Records Act presumes access to public records subject to exemptions. Idaho Code sections 74-102 and 74-103 govern examination, requests, response, and fees. Resident requests generally receive a grant or denial within three working days, or notice that additional time up to ten working days is needed. The current statutory text controls.

An agency need not create a new report to answer a broad question. Ask whether an existing release sheet, jail register entry, or standard export can be produced. Idaho residents have statutory no-charge thresholds for the first two labor hours and 100 paper pages, with fees possible beyond those limits under the statute. Electronic delivery and a narrow date range can make the request easier to process.

Judicial records follow Idaho Court Administrative Rule 32, not the executive-agency public-record process. Use iCourt first, then route document requests to the court division shown in the case.

After a Gem County Transfer

When the jail reports transfer, search the named destination after allowing intake time. IDOC handles state commitments and can show status, physical location, sentence rows, parole eligibility, and later release to supervision. The BOP locator covers federal prisoners only. ICE's locator covers searchable civil immigration detention. None is a general substitute for Federal Bureau of Prisons records.

Release
Physical custody ends under an identified legal basis.
Transfer
Physical custody continues with another agency or facility.
Detainer
A request or legal hold that may keep a person confined after one matter ends.
Discharge
A sentence or supervision obligation ends, which differs from parole release.

A no-result from a destination database is not proof of community release. Intake lag, spelling, protected status, and jurisdiction limits can all produce a miss. Return to the jail transfer entry and ask the receiving agency to confirm the intake.

Gem County Release Verification

Read each source for the narrow fact it controls. The jail register is closest to physical departure. A signed court order controls disposition. IDOC controls state custody and supervision fields. VINE supplies event notices reported by participating agencies. Keep the date and time of each check because dynamic systems change.

If sources conflict, ask the jail whether a new hold or transport event followed the order. For a bond-out claim, seek the release timestamp and court conditions. For time served, pair the judgment or credit entry with the jail disposition. For a felony commitment, pair the county transfer record with the IDOC intake. These combinations avoid treating a planned or authorized release as a completed one.

Recent windows are handled through Jail Releases: 24 Hours and Jail Releases: 72 Hours. Because the county publishes no feed, those routes explain date-specific calls and records requests rather than presenting current arrestees as released people.

BOP Federal Release Results

The BOP Inmate Locator covers federal Bureau of Prisons custody, not Gem County Jail, Idaho state prisons, or ICE detention. Search with a BOP, DCDC, FBI, or INS number when available. Name searches can use race, sex, and age. Results may include register number, age, race, sex, release date, and current or released location language.

A BOP release date and “Released” status establish only what the federal locator reports. They do not show whether Idaho, Gem County, another state, or ICE assumed custody. “Not in BOP custody” is not proof of return to the community.

For a Gem County case that led to federal custody, pair the county transfer entry with the federal match. Allow intake processing time after transport. Keep the register number and exact displayed status, then use official BOP records channels when the public result lacks needed history.

Federal Release and Supervision

A departure from BOP physical custody may be followed by federal supervised release. Use the federal judgment and court record for those terms rather than treating a locator date as the end of every legal obligation. PACER or the federal clerk is the correct route for the judgment.

The U.S. Marshals Service commonly places pretrial federal detainees in contracted facilities and does not provide a comprehensive public inmate locator. When a Gem County record identifies a federal writ or transfer, the county transfer entry and federal case are stronger evidence than a generic USMS search.
